I stood by your bed last night,
I came to have a peep
I could see that you were crying,
You found it hard to sleep.

I whispered to you softly
as you brushed away a tear,
"It’s me, I haven’t left you,
I’m well, I’m fine, I’m here."

I was with you at my grave today,
You tend it with such care.
I wanted to reassure you,
that I’m not lying there.

It’s possible for me,
to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty,
"I never went away."

And when the time is right for you
to cross the brief divide,
I’ll rush across to greet you
and we’ll stand,
side by side.

I have so many things to show you,
there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out
... then come home to be with me.
Mama Never Did Like Hats
We want Mama's resting place to be a place of beauty. We go there often, I usually go by every morning on my way to work.
My sister Carla had a topper made for Mama's headstone, the main part of it was made of plastic. I chased that topper all over that cemetary every time it blew off and put it back.
Well she had another one made for Christmas. This time the main part of the topper was metal and we thought surely this one will stay on.
NO
I chased that one all over the cemetary as well. After what seemed like the hundreth time, I realized this thing was too much like a hat and Mama never liked hats.
Well I mentioned this to my sisters, whom I'm sure at first, thought I had lost my mind. But after chasing that topper a few more times they started to think I might be right.
But, we don't give up easily, a trait I like to think we got from Mama, so Carla bought some INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH VELCRO. By George, we're gonna make that topper stay on!!!
She fixed it once again, stuck the velcro to the topper and the headstone, mashed them down together real good and walked away with a smile.
Less than a week later, she was chasing that topper thru the cemetary, velcro and all!
